The Transformation Life Center proudly presents the 13th Annual Steps of Success 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Each stride we take is a stride towards building a brighter future for African American/Black college students and the youth in Nashville’s underserved neighborhoods. Witness our Founder and CEO, Demetrius Short, lead by example, running in a full suit paired with sneakers. Fundraising Initiatives
- “Transform” Fundraiser: Commit individually or as a team to contribute or collect $2,500. This amount sponsors one student’s entry into the Leadership Academy.
- “Inspire” Fundraiser: Embark on a mission to give or gather $1,000. This funds a college scholarship for one deserving student.
- “Ignite” Fundraiser: Rally to offer or raise $500, enabling one boy to be a part of the Brown Boys Read program.

Join fellow runners at the Analog within the Hutton Hotel for a post-race gala. All registered Steps of Success 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk participants get free entry. Our passion doesn’t end at the finish line. Every moment of the race aims to carve out a “Pathway to Success” for our African American/Black students and the promising youth of Nashville. Demetrius Short, our inspiration in a suit and sneakers, beckons your support to fuel the TLC mission: “Nurturing the future Black leaders who will change our world for the better.”
It’s not just any after party — it’s the best 5K After Party you’ll ever attend! Get ready to groove to live tunes, savor scrumptious food, and revel in camaraderie!
